CCT-selectable luminaires are convenient for the market, but the engineering behind them is not always as simple as the label suggests.

In this example, the 4000 K preset is not a separate 4000 K LED channel. It is synthesized by combining the measured 3000 K and 5000 K channels.

That can work well - but it should be treated as its own operating point, with proper measurement, calibration and thermal validation.
